Our Projects
Hope Haven is excited to introduce its Homeless Small Village Project, a transformative initiative set to unfold over approximately one year, designed to offer a fresh start to ten carefully selected homeless individuals. These residents will be strong, young, and of good character—honest people eager to work and rebuild their lives. The project, our first major undertaking, will channel all resources into establishing a solid foundation in its inaugural year, paving the way for broader homeless support initiatives in the future.
Nestled on a rural site with affordable, plentiful land, the Small Village will feature an array of purpose-built structures to meet essential needs. At its core are ten tiny homes, each a compact yet comfortable sanctuary offering immediate shelter and stability—key stepping stones to dignity and hope. Alongside these homes, we’ll establish sawmill infrastructure, a cornerstone of the project that not only produces sustainable lumber for construction but also provides full-time work opportunities for residents. This operation has the potential to generate revenue, supporting the village’s growth and self-reliance. To ensure nutritional security, food processing facilities will be built, allowing residents to prepare and preserve food, fostering independence and health. Complementing these are modular buildings, thoughtfully designed to include showers, laundry facilities, restrooms, personal storage, and a multipurpose community space—amenities that enhance well-being and promote a safer, cleaner environment.
The Small Village isn’t just about physical structures; it’s about building a thriving, collaborative community. Residents will work together, particularly in the sawmill, and engage with the surrounding area by forging strong ties with local government and neighbors. We envision active participation in community activities, volunteer opportunities, and even shared spaces for public benefit—creating a model of mutual support. With free or greatly reduced rent, paired with compassionate oversight and tailored services, this village offers a lifeline to those ready to take charge of their futures.
In the first year, the founder, having endured a decade of homelessness, will dedicate time to resting and consolidating while laying the groundwork for the Small Village. Year two will mark a transition to a more active, mobile leadership role, focusing on innovation and expansion. Hope Haven aspires to be an organization driven by empathy for the suffering of the poor, continuously evolving our projects to enhance other shelters’ capabilities through infrastructure improvements—optimizing taxpayer dollar efficiency and minimizing hospital visits due to neglect—while addressing societal challenges, such as illuminating metaphorical dark alleyways to promote safety. We will lead by producing materials like lumber and bricks, preparing for innovations like robotics in production to ensure scalable operations, create new opportunities, and tackle overlooked needs as a beacon of compassion and progress, with the potential to innovate truly life-changing solutions that align with Christian principles of prioritizing God’s will over our own.
